Leaders on the Rise - Shaping Future Female Talent


This highly interactive, engaging programme will enable participants to accelerate their leadership journey. The programme will focus on embracing leadership, finding your voice and explain how to pro-actively manage your career. Each participant will leave with a personalised action plan for their career and a strong understanding of how to make their career journey a success.

The overarching aim of the course is to create a peer group of talented managers who are just starting out on their careers and will become a support network for each other. The programme is delivered over 4 days by programme lead Ciara Garvan, in addition to guest speakers. Participants will also complete a Leadership Report with Thomas International and receive two 1:1 coaching sessions as part of the programme.

Programme Schedule
4 day programme | 2 coaching sessions

Day 1
The objective of the first day is to bring the group together and start creating a high trust environment. It is designed to enable the participants to self-reflect on their careers to date. Are they the right fit for their current role? What is holding them back from progressing further? The day will focus on self-awareness, understanding their strengths and areas for improvement and exploring if those areas of improvement are perceived or real as well as understanding possible gender differences and the importance of impression management.

Day 2
The aim of Day 2 is to have the participants embrace their leadership style and develop a professional presence. The area of creating a vision; strategic thinking and planning for both current and future roles will be explored. In this session we will discuss how to Imposter Syndrome, leadership and the differences between soft power and hard power. Participants will find their voice, a leadership style and body language which is authentic to them.

Day 3
We will discuss the importance of communications, influencing, building the team, getting the best from others, networking, how to maintain a visible social media profile and why it can be a powerful tool for women in particular. This will be balanced in the afternoon by a discussion on the value of deep work and how to become indispensable in your organisation without burning yourself out.

Day 4
Day 4 will embrace the larger context of culture, change, organisational behaviour and politics in which participants are operating. We will discuss the role of mentors and sponsors. We will wrap up the day discussing organisational politics and how to cope when things don’t go according to plan.

Programme Lead - Ciara Garvan
Ciara is a senior facilitator with Ibec Management Training. She holds a Masters in Applied Computing and has been involved in the Irish technology industry over the past fifteen years, holding senior roles in blue chip companies, such as Accenture, eir and Meteor. Ciara regularly speaks and writes about issues relating to diversity in the workforce, in particular gender diversity. Ciara has a particular passion for supporting women in business and regularly hosts workshops aimed at women returning to the workforce.
